Light through Culture is an international design school that aims at weaving, through design, innovative technologies and culture into a new canvas for making and thinking. The school was founded in Siena in 2011 by Patrizia Marti (University of Siena) and Kees Overbeeke (Eindhoven University of Technology). During the first edition organised in partnership with University of Siena and Eindhoven University of Technology. The school was hosted at the Museum Santa Maria della Scala in Siena. An experiential path was designed to ideally recall the ancient pilgrimage route along the Via Francigena, that crossed the Santa Maria della Scala, the former city hospital where the pilgrims could be given shelter and care on their way. The designed installation, a real path in the Museum underground invited the contemporary visitors as new pilgrims.
